Daniel P. Curtis, 59, of Castle Rock, CO, Went to his Home in Heaven on November 7, 2017.
Daniel Philip Curtis was born Sept. 2, 1958 in Madison, WI to Philip N. Curtis and Marcellitte M. (Haight) Curtis.
Dan enjoyed growing up with his family in rural WI. He learned how to work hard, be honest and dependable. This is where he became strong. He was active in 4-H, FFA, football, basketball, and baseball. He would later tease, “Don’t let going to school get in the way of your education.” It was the extracurricular activities that kept Dan interested in school. This continued when Dan attended UW – Oshkosh where he played football and baseball. He also attended UW - Platteville. Into his 4th year of college he decided to join friends on a trip to Colorado. This is where he began working for a plumber near Winter Park. He quickly picked up the skills and realized this was what he wanted to do. He spoke fondly of living in the mountains of Colorado.
Dan had the opportunity to change jobs and move to Denver. He then met a girl, also from Wisconsin, who was attending a nursing conference in Denver; a plan that only God could create. The shy and quiet Dan married Peggy May 18, 1985, just over a year after they met. They moved to Castle Rock where they have remained. Dan’s family quickly grew with the blessing of 4 children in 4 ½ years. He always loved to tell that story. If that wasn’t enough, Dan started his business, Mid Cities Plumbing and Heating, in 1986. He began with nothing but an old truck and tools.
Dan was actively involved with his children, Erin (Scott) Norman (Gillette, WY), Caitlin Curtis (Castle Rock, CO), Eric (Cora) Curtis (Castle Rock, CO) and Luke (Heidi) Curtis (Columbus, OH). He coached many softball, baseball, and football teams. His kids were 4th generation 4-H. Helping them raise sheep and poultry was his second job. Dan enjoyed his family and home. He was happiest when around family. Dan always said, “There is no place like home.” His other interest’s included gardening, especially growing pumpkins and woodworking projects. He was also very proud of his grandson, Marshall Gene.
Dan has three younger brothers and one sister: David (Poynette, WI), Theresa Tommet (Tucson, AZ), Dale (Gary) (Sedona, AZ), and Darin (Jenny) (Poynette, WI). He has 7 nephews and 4 nieces.
Preceded in death are his father Phil and his brother-in -law Tom.
